Die Entscheidung der EU-Kommission für einen Schwellenwert von 0,1 Prozent für GVO-Spuren in Importfutter wird von einem europäischen Fachverband verhalten begrüßt.

RLP-Agrarministerin Ulrike Höfken (Grüne) möchte die Forschungsfreiheit nicht einschränken. Die BASF zeigt sich daher zuversichtlich, auch bei der Grünen Gentechnik.

Der Versuch, ein einheitliches Zulassungssytem für GVO in der EU zu etablieren, ist damit offiziell gescheitert. Für die FDP-Agrarsprecherin Christel Happach-Kasan widerspricht die Entscheidung der Idee eines gemeinsamen Binnenmarktes.

Der erste Lehrgang wurde bereits im Jahr 2006 angeboten. Der Lehrgang 2011/12 beginnt im Oktober 2011 mit Modulen in Belgien, Frankreich, Deutschland, den Niederlanden, Spanien und den USA.

Die EU-Kommission hat am 17. Juni den Import dreier GVO-Linien zugelassen: zweimal für Mais, einmal für Baumwolle.
